Decadent Dishes
Our team of Chefs have created an innovative a la carte menu from the finest and freshest produce in the area, such as Kaikoura seafood, local gourmet meats, organic vegetables, herbs and fruits. Our frequently updated menu may include goats cheese dumplings drizzled with roasted capsicum oil; main course options such as roasted saddle of hare or boudin of New Zealand crayfish; and hand-crafted desserts or a South Island cheese board with seasonal fruit.
Guests can also start their day with a special ‘Breakfast in the Clouds’ – gourmet food with superb mountaintop views or a full gourmet country breakfast, with local free-range eggs, dry-cured bacon and field mushrooms.
Delicious Local Wines
Select Braemar Lodge’s fine food is, of course, complemented by outstanding New Zealand wines, including those of the nearby Waipara Valley, famous for its Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Cabernet Sauvignon, and rich, spicy Pinot Noirs and Rieslings.

The guest lounge and library sits beside the restaurant - by day offering panoramic views of the Hanmer Basin and by night a huge roaring fire. Comfortable lounges and a range of games and books make this an ideal spot to relax and enjoy the alpine scenery.
The Altitude Restaurant is open daily for dinner. Reservations are essential. A shuttle service to and from the village can be arranged with prior notice. Charges may apply.
